So yeah, my sucky printer still suckity sucks, so the actual cards printed pretty badly. The high-res file is much better than this one, but this is at least better than what the card looked like.

March 6th, 2011Ryan…
January 6th, 2011Yesterday morning, a good friend of mine, Ryan Dang, passed away in his sleep. A fellow Gamma (although from a different chapter,) he & I were kindred spirits who shared many common interests. Although I didn’t spend as much time hanging out with him as some of my fellow pledge bro’s since I had transferred schools during those college days, Ryan always made it a point to stay in touch with me online, because we had so much in common. Two days before his sudden passing he sent me a message wishing me a Happy New Year & asked if I had any new info on the live-action Space Battleship Yamato movie (one of our common interests.) That would be the last I would ever hear from him, and I didn’t know it at the time, but it was his “goodbye” to me. Thank you, Ryan for your brotherhood and friendship over the years. I will keep those with me forever, and when I do finally see that movie, I know you will be sitting there watching it with me from heaven. Goodbye, bro. My thoughts and prayers to you and the Dang family.
The Holiday Card
December 21st, 2010So, usually I’m an Epson disciple when it comes to printers, but last year when I needed a new one, I went with a Canon just to see what else was out there. After printing this year’s Christmas cards, I can honestly say the first chance I get I’m running back to Epson with flowers, apologizing for ever thinking I could do better.
Even tweaking the print settings as best I could, I couldn’t get it remotely close to looking the way I wanted it. Browns ended up orange, and colors were completely flat and light. For those who are going to get a card, this is closer to how it should look.
Leiji Style!
September 5th, 2010Leiji Matsumoto is a legendary name in manga & anime whose credits include the classic Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers for those of us in the US,) Captain Harlock, Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555 animation, and way too many more to name here. He’s a personal hero of mine. Here’s a couple of sketches I did in his style of some characters from his Captain Harlock series:
